Do you think popular award winning actress, producer and director-turned politician, Funke Akindele will make a good deputy governor for Lagos state?
The mother of twins who recently dumped her marriage took to social media to reveal she’s the Deputy Governorship candidate under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Lagos state.
This came after the Lagos State Governorship candidate of the party, Dr Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor, officially announced and present on Tuesday, the Nollywood actress, as running mate for the coming 2023 election.
Akindele, from Ikorodu division was said to be on top of the list which comprises of other four names as potential running mate of the party’s governorship candidate, Jandor.
Rhodes-Vivour and Kolawole, two of the shortlisted candidates, are from Lagos West, the same senatorial area as Jandor, which adversely affects their chances.
Additionally, a picture of Jandor and Akindele that went viral suggested that Akindele had been selected as the running mate.
According to media sources, Akindele was selected as the candidate’s running mate for the coveted position for four main reasons.
“The reasons are she is from Ikorodu and Lagos East Senatorial District like the incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hsmzat. She is also from the royal family in the town,” a source said.
However, many others have taken to social media to air their opinion about Funke running for office. While some ae in support, others believe the position doesn’t suit her, coupled with some of the negative controversies around her, such as, her failed marriage, her alleged strict lifestyle, her alleged former staff calling he “wicked” on social media and many others.
“The people wey do am before nor get two heads. She will learn on the job and also deploy whatever experience she has in running her business.” One Chica Biker commented.
