Manchester City Players Elect New Captain

Manchester City players have chosen Ilkay Gundogan as their new captain, according to the UK Telegraph.
His fellow midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, was elected as deputy captain.
Their appointments come after Fernandinho left the Etihad this summer after nine years to join Atletico Paranaense on a free transfer.
Gundogan, who captained the team several times last term, did so again during the 4-0 win over Bournemouth last Saturday.
The German was the first player Pep Guardiola signed for City and was linked with a move away with summer.
However, Gundogan is now the official captain, with Kevin De Bruyne vice captain, while Rodri has been incorporated into the club’s ‘leadership group’.
The five man leadership group also includes defenders Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias.
